In USSR the large number of people wanted to be like West role models, it can be some actors, musicians and etc. However, the policy of USSR had a closed direction and to get real cool clothes was hard and sometimes impossible.
The most popular type of clothes was jeans, but USSR wasn’t produce stuff like that. Therefore, people were forced to buy it from west dealers for a real high price. Like an example the one jeans was cost about two typical salaries of usual person in USSR. To be honestly, I think it is real expensive, but nevertheless people bought it. At that time on the market were popular Indian jeans(the most cheaper version), Poland jeans(middle price) and USA jeans(the most high cost).
Also, the most important part of style was make up and heir dress. Make up should have been as bright as possible. The cosmetics weren’t so expensive and USSR women used to domestic manufacturer. In the stocks of cosmetic was possible find everything what you want for cheap prices. The style of heir dresses was borrow from West Rockers probably. The style looked like freedom and luxuriantly at the same time over the head.
